Benefits of the British National Curriculum at an international school
The British National Curriculum is one of the most widely recognised educational programs in the world today. Taught within British and international schools across the globe, it provides many benefits for a school, whose ethos is to provide students with great opportunities in both higher education and future employment.
This well established curriculum is both broad and balanced with a structure that includes measures to allow the detailed assessment of each child’s individual progress in every subject. There is a great importance at international schools to incorporate an emphasis on learning languages as part of their educational programme, especially when the community is composed of so many nationalities. The British National Curriculum compliments this essential factor and by setting English as the central language for study, students develop linguistic skills that will enable them to apply for university placements around the world.
In addition to acquiring the ability to speak English fluently, doors are opened to further education and work, both locally and abroad, via the internationally recognised qualifications gained from studying the British National Curriculum.

St Andrews International School Dusit
St. Andrews Dusit has a student body and teaching staff comprised of over 20 different nationalities and we are extremely proud of our happy, vibrant and welcoming school community. The positive learning environment within our classrooms and playgrounds ensures that children are always inspired and able to achieve their full potential in every area of their education.
Commencing in our Early Years program, the comprehensive curriculum undertaken by our youngest students, aged 2 to 5 years old, allows our highly experienced Early Years teachers to provide engaging and exciting lessons that prepare children to move up and succeed in Primary School.
Languages are an integral part of Early Years learning and students benefit from classes in English, Thai, and also Mandarin, the most widely spoken language in the world. Non-Thai speaking children are taught by native language specialists to ensure they are able to understand and appreciate the culture of Thailand.
From the age of 6 to 11 years St. Andrews Dusit students attend Primary School where the emphasis on languages continues, with options to learn French, German or any language parents have an interest in their child learning. This extension on our language offerings provides students with greater opportunities in life.
Immersion in a language is essential to achieving true familiarisation, and the ability to not only read, write and speak in that language, but to think in it. The English as an Additional Language (EAL) programme is available to students from 5-11 of any nationality when parents feel that a mastery of English would benefit their child in further education and beyond. It also enables them to learn confidently according to their ability and at their own speed.
Our educational program throughout both Early Years and Primary is designed to meet the needs of students at every level of ability.
